To everything there is a season
I must confess, I hate winter. This isn’t a surprise to anyone who knows me. When we moved here to Stockton Springs I had visions of playing on the beach with the sun shining down on me.
But the beach today is more like the picture above!
Ecclesiastes 3 tells us the there is a season for everything.
Last Monday was the first day of spring…at least on the calendar! We have had snow and cold since then. The talk about town is that everyone is tired of winter and just wants it to end. But we all know that the cold and snow aren’t dictated by a date on the calendar. Winter will end when it ends. No one can change no matter how much we wish we could. We know that it will end, we just don’t know when that will be so we just bundle up until it decides to end.
In our lives we are all in various seasons. Each phase of live carries it’s own issues. Maybe the season you are in has been long and cold. Maybe you have found yourself asking God, “How long will this go on” or “Will things ever get better?” I know the feeling, I have been there too!
When I feel this way I need to remind myself that this season that I am in will end. Things will get better if I just keep looking up. The sun (or should I say Son) is there behind the clouds. It will reveal itself and melt the cold and dreary. Winter won’t last forever.
