What to Expect your first time
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Psalms 122:1
What to Expect
If you are a first-time guest at SSCC, here are a few things you will want to know.
Will I feel out of place?
We hope not! When you enter the doors of SSCC, you will be warmly welcomed and joyfully accepted. We have new guests often at SSCC.
Will I have to stand up and introduce myself during the service?
NO WAY! We would not want to embarrass you in any way. We do want you to come back!
How should I dress?
At SSCC, we are not focused on what you wear. Most of those who come to SSCC dress in casual attire. We have some that “Dress-up”, but plan to come in a way that makes you comfortable.
Tell me about the Worship Services.
Sunday Morning Worship Service
10:00 AM- Our worship service is a traditional service filled with hymns and a few contemporary songs. Our music is led with the piano. We also set some time aside to take prayer requests from those led to share. The pastor has about a 30 minute message (give or take).
5:30 PM-Sunday Evening is a casual time of singing, testimonies and Bible study. The format is such that the group discusses and asks questions. Feel free to participate at a level you feel comfortable with.
What about my Children?
WE DO PROVIDE A NURSERY FOR OUR 10:00 a.m. WORSHIP SERVICE, (Ages birth to 4). The nursery is available for you to use if you chose.
During the 10:00 Worship Service we also provide a “Jr. Church” service for children ages 5- 5th grade. Your child(ren) share the service together with the adults during the first half of the service and are dismissed before the adult message to hear a lesson geared towards their needs.
Anything else I need to know?
At SSCC, we take communion the first Sunday of the month. We practice open communion which means that even if you are not a “member” of SSCC you are welcome to take communion if the Lord leads you to do so.
You will also see that we pass the offering plate each week. The offering is how we fund the workings and ministry of SSCC. As a guest, we do not expect you to participate in the offering. Just sit back and enjoy the service.
Every First Sunday of the month, following the morning service we gather for a potluck lunch. As a visitor you aren’t expected to bring anything, so please stay as our guest and enjoy lunch on us.
Parking: There is only street side parking.
